| The
island town of Flores is the capital of the Peten set on Lake Peten
Itza. The small relaxed town is connected to the mainland by a 500m
causeway. Flores is built around the church and central plaza sits
on top of a hill in the center of the island. The towns narrow streets
are lined with charming, red roofed houses. Flores is a useful base
to explore the lake and other mayan ruins in the area.

| Boat
trips around the lake to discover the indigenous villages set on
its shores. Therse is interesting bird watching on the Rio Ixpop
on the east side of the lake.
The limestone cave of
Actun-CAn is a long walk from Flores. The cave keeper, will turn
on the lights and explain the cave formations which suggest animals
and humans. |

You
can also take a little adventure tour to "Cerro Cahui"
which is a natural reserve for butterflies. On a sunny day, over
50 species of butterflies will wow you.
Tour of Uaxactun: On
this tour we will take a guided tour of the Mayan Ruins. Then after
a relaxing lunch, we will tour the Mayan Observatory. Price includes
round trip from Tikal to Uaxactun and lunch.

Ceibal: On this tour, we begin by taking a tranquil riverboat ride
between Sayaxche and Ceibal. It is an hour and a half of riverside
nature. This gives time to observe nature in the jungle at its best.
Arriving in Ceibal, have lunch, then continue with a tour of the
Mayan ruins in Ceibal.
